Choosing a used MacBook

Second-hand MacBooks are priced mainly by year and chip. Intel models (2015–2020) are the budget entry and still run current apps well, but macOS support ends sooner; Apple silicon (M1 onwards) gives all-day battery and much better resale. Because RAM and storage are soldered, buy the configuration you will need in two years. Ask for the battery cycle count and confirm the unit is signed out of iCloud and Activation Lock before payment.
